Description
The Moog Theremini Miniature Theremin Synthesizer is a modern rendition of one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, which is designed to make it more performance-friendly than ever before. The hands-free playing approach is paired with a powerful internal sound engine that is modelled on Bob Moog's award-winning synthesizer, Animoog. The compact and playful design of the Theremini guarantees that no matter what your skill level is or what age you are, you will be making music in no time at all.
SETTINGS TO SUIT YOU
You need not be an expect in order to setup and calibrate the Theremini. Fortunately, the team at Moog has equipped this beauty with an easy to use setup process, complete with step-by-step instructions that allows you to adjust the desired pitch range so that both the pitch and volume antennae are calibrated for your room and position. For those with experience, you can access the "Theremin Mode", which gives you greater control over the setup process. The helpful pitch quantization assistant, accessible via the Pitch Bias knob, determines the amount of pitch correction from 0 to 100%. This enables individuals to adjust the level of playing difficulty with ease. At maximum position, each note in a selected scale will be played perfectly, for seamless and tuneful performances. As you decrease the control level, greater expression is handed over to you, giving you more accurate performance control with regard to vibrato and pitch. At the minimum level, the Theremini will perform as a traditional Theremin, using the analogue heterodyning oscillator to control pitch without any further built-in assistance.
FRONT PANEL DISPLAY
Across the front panel you'll find a 128 x 64 pixel LCD display with white backlight, which makes it easy to confirm settings and controls. The Volume knob allows you to control the headphone volume, as well as the built-in speaker volume. When you plug in headphones via the TRS jack input, the speaker will be disabled, enabling you to practise in silence. The Scale button allows you to select from a list of scales, whilst the Root button selects the root note of the scale to be used. A built-in tuner supplies real-time visual feedback of each note as it is played, as well as its proximity, to perfection. This is useful for correcting a user's playing position, and educating younger players about pitch and scales. The presets section allows you to select from 32 wave or wavetable-based patches, store a selected scale & root note, set and recall a specified playing range, and specify per-patch settings for the included stereo delay.
PERFORMANCE OPTIONS
For live performance and gestural control, the rear panel features two line-level audio outputs, a pitch CV output with selectable range, and a mini USB jack for MIDI I/O and connectivity.
